Let’s get one thing clear about my list, these are the best beachfront hotels on Oahu, not the best “across the street from the beach hotels” on O’ahu.

I have seen several other articles that are clearly just “reaching” for clicks. Don’t be misled and end up across the street. I know exactly what you mean when you say “beachfront hotels”. You are imagining yourself walking directly from your hotel lobby out to the sandy shoreline. No crosswalks, no shopping center, and no map needed to get there, just heading towards the sound of the ocean.

With a vast array of luxurious resorts, family-friendly accommodations, and budget-friendly options, Oahu offers a beachfront hotel experience for every traveler. Did you know? Oahu is home to over 50 miles of breathtaking coastline, boasting some of the most sought-after beachfront properties in the world. I have personally stayed at several on this list so if you see one to your liking you can dig in further with one of my detailed reviews.

To help you make your decision, I’ve curated a list of the top Oahu beachfront hotels. Each property offers a unique experience, with different styles, atmospheres, and amenities. Let’s examine each and find the best fit for you.

The Kahala Hotel and Resort

Nestled in the prestigious neighborhood of Kahala, the Kahala Hotel and Resort is a luxurious 5-star property that offers the ideal romantic retreat. I had a chance to stay here and review the hotel and restaurants on the property, a wonderful experience.

a beach with palm trees and a building

The resort boasts:

  • Oceanfront rooms, suites, and private villas, featuring plunge pools and 5 star service to cater to your every need
  • Five restaurants and bars
  • A full-service spa
  • An outdoor swimming pool

The Kahala Hotel and Resort is a great alternative to staying in Waikiki without being too far away. This is a luxury hotel, I recommend you book via Virtuoso for VIP perks you can’t get when booking direct.

One of the most noteworthy features of this resort is its private beach and lagoon, where guests can interact with dolphins and enjoy the tranquility of the ocean. The elegant ambiance combined with the exquisite accommodations make the Kahala Hotel and Resort an ideal choice for couples seeking a luxurious and relaxing getaway in Oahu.

One note about the private beach, it’s not “really” private as that is illegal in Hawai’i, but it “feels” private because only hotel guests and locals know about it. Never crowded, calm, clean, and just a wonderful spot on O’ahu.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort

The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort is a beautiful beachfront destination, much like the nearby Outrigger Reef Hotel. It takes up 22 acres of land and encompasses lush tropical gardens and a stunning white sand beach in Waikiki, O’ahu.

Perfect for families, the resort offers five swimming pools, a full-service spa, various dining options, and a fitness center. Guests can engage in activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and surfing.

It is important to note that this resort is directly on the beach but with several towers on the property, some are direct beachfront while others are set back a bit. If you truly want beachfront then the Rainbow and Ali’i Towers are the best choice.

When booking this hotel be sure to pick the tower you want and verify it is on the reservation.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is home to the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. Spanning two acres, this saltwater lagoon is perfect for taking a dip or doing water activities like paddleboarding. With its family-friendly accommodations and extensive array of amenities and activities, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort promises an unforgettable Oahu vacation for the entire family.

Sheraton Waikiki – Best Family Beachfront In Waikiki

Yes, the Sheraton Waikiki is oceanfront and has direct access to some of the best beach areas in Waikiki. Some claim that this hotel is not beachfront or is only fronting a seawall, not true at all. Read my detailed review of this property and watch the video to see exactly what I am talking about.

I regularly recommend this hotel as one of the best family hotels on O’ahu along with the best pools in Waikiki.

Sheraton Waikiki is a luxurious beachfront resort that offers:

  • Stunning ocean views
  • Prime location in the heart of Waikiki
  • Catamaran rides steps away

One of the standout features of Sheraton Waikiki is the “Edge of Waikiki” experience, which offers an infinity pool with a stunning view of the ocean and Lē’ahi (Diamond Head), live music performances, and a selection of delicious cocktails. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure, Sheraton Waikiki provides a luxurious and convenient base for your Oahu getaway.

Outrigger Reef Resort

Outrigger Reef Resort offers direct beachfront access but the beach does ebb and flow with the seasons and tides. When you head out from the hotel just passing the new Monkeypod Restaurant head right and you will see a nice sandy area and just beyond is Ft. DeRussy Beach Park.

  • Beachfront accommodations
  • On-site dining options, including the popular Monkeypod restaurant
  • Balconies with ocean views
  • On-site cultural activities and near dozens of additional dining options

The premium suites at Outrigger Reef Resort are newly renovated and provide a modern Hawai’i residential feel with luxurious amenities. These suites offer an exquisite experience with stunning views of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean.

Given its prime location, comfortable lodgings, and an array of activities, Outrigger Reef Resort presents a superb choice and has a loyal return following.

Moana Surfrider, A Westin Beachfront Resort & Spa

The Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, is an esteemed and renowned resort situated on Waikiki Beach, Oahu. It is known for its unique fusion of historic character and charm with modern updates. I stayed here and enjoyed the charm of the “First Lady of Waikiki” and look forward to many more coffees in the famous rocking chairs.

a beach with umbrellas and people on it

My review and video are from the tower wing although I have stayed in the historic wing in the past. The beachfront access here is one of the best, hands down. This hotel is a part of the Marriott Stars & Luminous programs, don’t miss out on VIP perks and benefits and book with an agent who is an exclusive member.

The resort offers a variety of amenities and activities, including:

  • Water sports such as surfing, snorkeling, and paddleboarding
  • A full-service spa
  • A fitness center
  • Cocktails under a banyan tree that will have you mesmerized

The Moana Surfrider’s iconic atmosphere, exquisite accommodations, and excellent amenities make it an ideal choice for travelers seeking a luxurious and unique Oahu experience.

The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki

The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki, is a luxurious and iconic pink-hued beachfront hotel located on Waikiki Beach on Oahu. Enjoy an oceanfront view with a terrace, or indulge in a suite that offers a separate living space and private lanais. With its elegant architecture and tropical gardens, the Royal Hawaiian provides a tranquil and luxurious atmosphere for guests.

a beach with umbrellas and palm trees

I stayed in the historic wing and got a full review/video done so check that out if you want the nitty-gritty. As far as beachfront goes this is my favorite. Chairs and umbrellas near the hotel get cocktail service directly from the hotel and if you want to get closer to the water you can rent those chairs directly.

This is a luxury hotel, I recommend you book via Virtuoso for VIP perks you can’t get when booking direct.

In addition to its stunning accommodations, the resort is home to Azure, a fine-dining seafood restaurant with an oceanfront view. During the day the same location becomes Surf Lanai serving the famous pink pancakes. Start your day with a pink guava mimosa, delicious.

Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina – My Favorite O’ahu Luxury Beachfront Hotel

Located on the west side of Oahu, the Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina is a luxurious beachfront resort that offers guests an unforgettable Hawaiian getaway.

a beach with a large building and people on it

Staying here and reviewing this hotel made me realize why so many love the quiet Ko Olina area when compared to Waikiki. Steps from the protected lagoons and steps from the rugged coastline make this location one-of-a-kind. Remember this is a luxury hotel, I recommend you book via Virtuoso for VIP perks you can’t get when booking direct.

The resort offers a range of amenities and activities, including:

  • World class dining options for guests
  • Best on Oahu full-service spa

Kaimana Beach Hotel – A Boutique Beachfront Experience

Kaimana Beach Hotel is a boutique hotel located in close proximity to Diamond Head, south of Waikiki Beach, and near Kuhio Beach Park, offering excellent value for those who prefer peace and tranquility. The hotel features contemporary decor and an on-site restaurant, Hau Tree, where I had reviewed one of the most relaxing Sunday brunches while looking out over the beach.

a tree with lights from it

It is quite surprising the number of visitors who do not take the short walk along Waikiki Beach to enjoy this quieter end. Kaimana Beach is directly in front and the Outrigger Canoe Club is a few doors down. If you want to watch serious watermen heading out while lounging in front of your hotel then this is one to consider.

The uppermost level of the Kaimana Beach Hotel offers expansive ocean views and wrap-around balconies, providing a serene atmosphere for guests to unwind. With its peaceful location and comfortable accommodations, Kaimana Beach Hotel is a great choice for travelers seeking a tranquil retreat away from the bustling areas of Waikiki.

Turtle Bay Resort

Situated on the North Shore of Oahu, Turtle Bay Resort is a luxurious beachfront property that stands alone on this side of O’ahu. A recent renovation puts this resort almost into the luxury category but until I stay there and review will keep it at a premium level.

There is a protected lagoon area near the hotel but do note that in the winter the North swells can be quite impressive. Some of the best big wave surfers come from around the world to surf during this time.

This resort can be booked via Virtuoso for additional VIP perks and benefits, don’t miss out on these by booking direct.

This resort offers:

  • Golfing
  • Water sports
  • Hiking
  • A kids’ club
  • Beachfront horseback riding

This luxury resort also features a full-service spa, several dining options, and various types of rooms, such as oceanfront rooms, suites, and ocean bungalows.

Given its breathtaking location and variety of activities, Turtle Bay Resort serves travelers seeking both adventure and relaxation in a luxury environment. The resort has received several awards and recognitions, including many well-recognized magazines and online travel websites.

Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort

Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is a lively beach resort in the center of Waikiki Beach and home to the famous Dukes Restaurant and Blue Note music venue.

I haven’t stayed here yet but have dined at Duke’s numerous times and took in a recent show at the Blue Note which was excellent. I think this Outrigger Hotel gets overlooked and many don’t realize it is beachfront.

If you want to be smack dab in the middle of Waikiki and right on the water this is an excellent choice.

The king ocean view room at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is the most sought-after accommodation, known for its stunning ocean views from the balcony and top-notch experience. Given its prime location, cosy lodgings, and array of activities, Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort makes an excellent choice for a memorable O’ahu vacation.

Aulani Disney Resort

Guests can enjoy comfortable accommodations with the following amenities:

Aulani Disney Resort is the perfect destination for families seeking a magical and memorable Hawaiian getaway.

a beach with chairs and a body of water

When I stayed here to review this hotel I was pleasantly surprised with the “no resort fee” feature, something you can also find at the Kahala Hotel. This location is labeled a Marriott Vacation Club but you can book directly, just like you would for a hotel room.

Like other hotels on this list in Ko Olina you are steps away from the protected lagoons, the sunset views here are amazing.

Marriott Ko Olina offers a luxurious sanctuary for travelers seeking a serene and relaxing Oahu vacation. Experience the beauty and serenity of Ko Olina at the Marriott Ko Olina resort.

Halekulani – Legendary Beachfront In Waikiki

My favorite luxury hotel on the beach in Waikiki and after they renovated the rooms during Covid it’s even better. I was lucky enough to stay in a renovated room when I did a full review and video. The attention to detail and service levels are legendary here not to mention some of the best dining options in the state.

a beach with palm trees and a body of water

Let’s talk about the beach frontage. This one does have a small beach area directly out front but it comes and goes with tide and surf, similar to the Outrigger Reef mentioned above.

If you exit towards the beach and head left you are met with another small area, it’s not until you pass the Sheraton Waikiki that you are met with a large beach area. Choose accordingly. This is a luxury hotel, I recommend you book via Virtuoso for VIP perks you can’t get when booking direct.

Halekulani is a luxurious resort in Oahu, known for its:

The resort offers a unique atmosphere, fusing historic character and charm with modern updates. Guests can also enjoy the House Without A Key restaurant at one of the finest beach resorts, known for its extraordinary sunsets, and live music in the evening.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, La Mer, offers a fine-dining experience with a focus on seafood and locally sourced ingredients. With its iconic atmosphere, exquisite accommodations, and exceptional amenities, Halekulani is a top choice for travelers seeking a luxurious and memorable Oahu vacation.

Paradise Bay Resort

Ok, I had to stretch a bit for this one. This one is directly on the water in Kaneohe but no real beach to be found unless you head down a bit. I include it in this list because not many know this hotel even exists let alone that it is oceanfront. A unique location and good reviews made me stretch the definition just a bit.
