Conrad Hong Kong is a classic luxury property in the heart of Hong Kong Island that manages to combine a business hotel with a resort oasis in the city.

Location

In the heart of Hong Kong Island, Conrad Hong Kong shares a complex with a mirrored hotel building, the Shangri-la. Below the hotel is the Pacific Place luxury mall, outside Queensway. The nearest MRT subway station is Admiralty, a ten-minute walk from the door.

White-Glove Service

What differentiates Conrad Hong Kong from its peers is the attention to detail and white-glove service the property is able to deliver. From a butler service that includes afternoon tea as well as drawing a bath, there is an element of exactness that runs throughout the hotel staff.

Whether it comes down to the flowers in the lobby, the effort to know each of their guests, or the white gloves staff actually wear, there is a sense that Conrad Hong Kong focuses on precision with personality.

Resort Feel In The Heart of The City

There’s no question that Conrad Hong Kong is in the heart of the city. But what makes Conrad special is that the hotel manages to deliver a resort feel for tourists as well. Around the pool, elevated several floors above street level, are luxury pool loungers common in beach resorts.

Poolside service for both food and drink is available, but above all else is a sense that guests are in a tropical paradise that just happens to be surrounded by skyscrapers.

Suite

Due to my Diamond status with Hilton Honors, I was upgraded to a corner suite listed as “mountain view” but in plain sight was Victoria Harbour out of the bedroom windows. An elegant, well-appointed living room featured a Bose sound system, TV, couches and a desk with plenty of international outlets so guests can avoid using power adapters.

In the bedroom, a king-sized bed awaited with excellent linens and bedside lamps. Additionally, a vanity with tri-fold mirrors kept my daughter occupied applying makeup. The bathroom (not pictured) included premium amenities, a jacuzzi tub, and separate shower.

Hilton’s Global Service

My suite upgrade certainly started my visit to Conrad Hong Kong off on the right foot, but it got better from there. The two-floor lounge (our suite was on the Club floor for convenience as well) hosted a full hot breakfast in the morning, evening canapés, and light food offerings in between.

Tea time in the evening, a British holdover from the days of imperial rule is also offered in the lounge. I had sampled the tea upon our arrival that afternoon, but took the opportunity to try out the scones with jam and clotted cream in the tradition of British mainstay properties.

Awaiting my arrival in the suite was a chocolate Diamond amenity in an elaborate wooden box. These benefits accompanied bonus Hilton Honors points, status credit for the stay, and upgrade to a suite.

When guests enter Conrad Hong Kong, the lobby indicates to guests the exquisite nature of the property. Ornate flower arrangements in opulent, grandiose spaces welcome guests and visitors.

Value

Average nightly rates at the Conrad Hong Kong range from $300-400 per night. However, the hotel can occasionally be booked for $230-250 in special circumstances. For $300/nt, the hotel is accurately priced for the market and Hilton Honors Diamond members will get even more value for their money.

When spending points, Conrad Hong Kong is priced in line with our Hilton Honors point valuation. The cost per night is usually 80,000, though Hilton charges more when standard rooms are not available for the entire stay. As the value is approximately what is expected, there’s no specific advantage to using points for booking, conversely, Honors members with ample balances are not at a disadvantage by using points instead of cash.

Conclusion

Conrad Hong Kong holds a unique market position that allows it to cater to either leisure or business travelers. Its location is ideal with a high level of service for a fair price. Hilton Honors Diamond members will love the property for the additional service elements available to them.
