A vacation to Oahu can take on many different forms, but there’s one thing it will always remain: unforgettable. From bustling city life to laidback surf towns and everything in between, this Hawaiian island offers something for everyone.
Except for a few jaunts around the world I have lived on Oahu all my life. Luxury options are abundant on most of the Hawaiian islands but Oahu does have a little more “depth” in offerings.
Here is my Luxury Oahu 7 Day Itinerary for you to use or edit as you see fit. Don’t forget to pick the best time to visit Hawaii.
The tropical climate of Honolulu provides plenty of sun and humidity year-round. The winter months are milder than summer and the trade winds keep temperatures comfortable throughout the day. The temperature typically varies from 68°F to 87°F and is rarely below 63°F or above 89°F.
Even on days when the sun is obscured by clouds, the UV rays are still going to find you. Cover up and wear plenty of reef-safe sunscreen. Though most non-reef-safe sunscreen is FDA approved, Hawaii has banned any sunscreens that contain chemicals known to harm the environment. Reef-safe sunscreen is the only sunscreen allowed in Hawaii.
Luxury Oahu Hotels
As with any luxury hotel around the world I recommend you book using a Virtuoso partnered travel agency so you don’t miss out on VIP perks and amenities. Check pricing on any available website and compare it with the free perks you get and you will see why savvy travelers do it this way. I recommend Classic Travel due to their extensive knowledge of luxury travel and online booking platform.
I have visited most of the luxury hotels on Oahu but I only list 3 here, don’t hesitate to mix it up with one of the other three.
The Kahala Hotel and Resort
The Kahala Hotel is the quintessential, luxurious experience you expect from a top tier Hawaii Resort. Located in secluded Kahala, Oahu, this resort offers a quiet retreat from Waikiki’s noisy crowds where you can enjoy gracious service and superb amenities that help you forget all about daily worries and worldly problems.
I have personally stayed at this hotel and have a full write up and video review for you to enjoy.
Its rooms and suites are complemented by five restaurants, a world-class spa, fitness center, business center, tropical gardens and a grand lagoon with six dolphins. The friendly staff provides excellent service, long-time guests have their names memorized and free amenities include shuttle service to Kahala Mall, Ala Moana Center or Waikiki Beach.
Halekulani Hotel
Since opening its doors over a century ago, Halekulani has been an icon of luxury and refined elegance. The enchanting grounds and resort-style amenities have earned this Honolulu hotel a reputation as one of the most celebrated hotels in Hawaii. Today, Halekulani continues to provide peerless service and unsurpassed standards of hospitality for guests from around the world.
Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko’Olina
Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina provides a stunning vacation environment for active, luxury-loving travelers. Located on the western side of Oahu, this resort is nestled around a pristine beach and offers both water sports and serene spa treatments. The resort’s focus is on providing guests with an authentic Hawaiian experience, deeply rooted in cultural tradition yet alive with excitement for the future.
Day 1 – Helicopter-Beach-Spa
It’s your first day on Oahu so let’s keep the itinerary interesting but avoid any hikes or early morning activities. You can book the 10am helicopter tour and get a birds eye of the island, then off to one of the top rated beaches in the world. On your way back from Kailua pull into the Kahala Hotel and Resort for a late afternoon spa appointment and bring a change for dinner at Hoku’s Restaurant.
Activity 1 – Oahu Helicopter Tour
A helicopter tour is the best way to see Oahu in its entirety. Enjoy stunning views of Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, and more when you take off from the main airport. Then, head up the windward coast, where you’ll get an aerial view of waterfalls, rainforests, and coastline before reaching Oahu’s North Shore.
Check out this five-star rated open-door helicopter tour that will literally have you on the edge of your seat.
Activity 2 – Kailua and Lanikai Beach
Kailua Beach Park is one of the biggest and most beautiful beach parks on Oahu’s Windward Side. If you want to enjoy a picnic, lunch with friends, or take in some stunning views, look no further than Kailua Beach Park! With plenty of amenities like BBQ pits, showers, and restrooms available on-site, it’s easy to spend an entire day lounging in the sun here. The most beloved activities are Kayaking, Stand Up Paddling, and Kitesurfing. Of course, people also love to sun tan and relax.
Lanikai Beach, world-renowned for its beauty, is located in the southern neighborhood of Lanikai. Although parking can be challenging to find and residents asking visitors to respect their privacy are not uncommon, both challenges are well worth enduring for the experience of swimming or sunbathing at this pristine beach.
Activity 3 – Kahala Spa
True luxury and relaxation await you at our Kahala Spa, which features nine gorgeous treatment rooms. For the utmost privacy during your spa experience, each room is complete with a glass-enclosed shower, deep soak tub, changing area, and wardrobe closet.
Restaurant Recommendation – Hoku’s Restaurant
I have personally reviewed Hoku’s while staying at the Kahala Hotel & Resort, read my detailed review for tips and photos.
Hoku’s is located at The Kahala Hotel & Resort which I put into the Top 5 luxury hotels on Oahu and a favorite of Presidents. Hoku’s world renown for its 5-star service and memory-making menu.
Day 2 – North Shore, Horseback Riding, and Luau
We head out to the North Shore on day 2 for some horseback riding, unique eats, and a world-class show at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Activity 1 – Coastal Drive and Horseback Riding
If you’re driving to the north shore of Oahu, it’ll take 45 minutes to an hour. However, I would recommend giving yourself some extra time to make stops along the way. For example, you should book a ride at Gunstock Ranch for 1 or 1 and 1/2 hours, giving you plenty of time afterward to grab a snack and relax.
Take a relaxing horseback ride through Gunstock Ranch, one of Oahu’s best-kept secrets. Secluded in the Hawaiian countryside, you will travel along shaded forest trails and open pastures. Keep an eye out for grazing cattle, soaring island birds, and maybe even wild pigs!
The day’s first show at the Polynesian Cultural Center is scheduled for 12:30 pm, so visitors should grab lunch in Haleiwa or from one of the many food trucks along the main road. Those looking for an authentic experience can enjoy the unique dishes and picnic benches these establishments provide.
Activity 2 – Polynesian Culture Center
Take a step back in time and discover the traditions of the Pacific Islands. Stroll through paradise, and you’ll feel like royalty with 42 acres of beautiful gardens. Make sure to participate in traditional hands-on activities and top off your day with an authentic Polynesian luau. The evening show is not to be missed – it’s truly spectacular!
With the ambassador luau package, you’ll get a private guided tour and access to exclusive seating at Hā: Breath of Life―one of the most excellent shows on the island that has received high praise from locals and tourists alike. The fun starts at 12:30 pm and doesn’t end until 9 pm, when you’ll finish with a delicious luau buffet meal.
This is a long day but don’t worry tomorrow you can sleep in and the activities will move at a slower pace so you can recoup.
Day 3 – Rainforest and Canoe Sailing
Sleep in today, you probably will need it after a long Day 2 of activities. Your day doesn’t start until 9 am and the Lyon Arboretum is centrally located. Prepare to spend the morning bathing in nature before sailing off the coast of Waikiki.
Activity 1 – Rainforest Bathing
With the magnificent greenery of Lyon Arboretum surrounding you, it’ll be easy to forget about your troubles and immerse yourself in Hawaii’s natural healing powers. The serene atmosphere will allow you to reflect on nature and connect with yourself as you stroll along the tranquil trails. This experience includes food, drinks, and admission to the Lyon Arboretum.
The NY Times recently recommended this in their list of top things to do in Honolulu. Additionally, Forbes named this walk one of the “incredible once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences that should be on every intrepid traveler’s bucket list.”
Activity 2 – Polynesian Canoe Sunset Sail
Learn about Hawaiian culture by sailing on a traditional Polynesian canoe during your vacation. While enjoying the lovely sunset from Waikiki’s coastline, board an all-wood, double-hulled vessel with a small group. Hawaii is rich in culture, and its native people have a multitude of myths, legends, and stories. While visiting the islands, guests can participate in cultural activities such as making food, clothes, and other traditional items.
Book an individual ticket, private charter, or group tour and see Waikiki from the ocean in all its glory.
Restaurant Recommendation – 53 By The Sea
This restaurant was designed to make the most of its stunning view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. You’ll be amazed at what Japanese chefs can do with fresh local ingredients, succulent seafood, and the finest hand-cut meats.
Day 4 – Shopping, Shopping, and a Yacht
Activity 1 – Beach Walk Shopping
The world-famous Waikiki neighborhood is located on the south shore of Honolulu. As Oahu’s primary hotel and resort area, Kalakaua Avenue is a popular destination for travelers worldwide. You can enjoy countless shopping, dining, entertainment, activity options, and luxurious resorts along this main strip.
You can see all the shops and events listed here so you can plan your day out.
Activity 2 – Ala Moana Shopping Center
Consistently ranked as one of the most successful malls in the United States and you will soon see why.
Ala Moana Center is not only the world’s largest outdoor shopping center but also Hawaii’s premier destination for shopping, entertainment, and dining. There is something for everyone at Ala Moana Center, with 290 stores – including nearly 70 different dining options. In addition, the store collection features a diverse mix of local boutiques and national retailers.
Some luxury brands available are Burberry, Armani, Chanel, Escada, Kate Spade, Rolex, Tiffany & Co., Hermes, Juicy Couture, Miu Miu, Balenciaga, Fendi, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ralph Lauren, Tumi, Michael Kors, Bally Coach, Bulgari, Cartier, Gucci, and St. John.
I recommend lunch at Mariposa which is in Neiman Marcus, ask for a table on the lanai and you will look out over Ala Moana Beach park and the blue Pacific Ocean.
Activity 3 – Yacht Sailing
Noelani Yacht Charters is a yacht charter designed for your pleasure and privacy, whether in the dock or out at sea. As seen on The Travel Channel, Noelani is a celebrity in her own right. She’s a 75-foot Sunseeker Predator, Hawaii’s largest luxury motor yacht. Make your dreams come true by chartering this famous boat for a romantic dinner for two. Bring your family, friends, or business associates (up to 12 people) for an unforgettable charter yacht experience around the Hawaiian Islands.
Restaurant Recommendation – Noe at The Four Seasons
Noe is a Michelin-starred, Japanese-Italian chef in Ryo Takatsuka’s modern Southern Italian restaurant. Using only the finest local seafood, meats, and homemade pasta alongside traditional Southern Italian ingredients and age-old recipes. If you’re looking for an outdoor setting with a fresh twist, Noe is the place to go. With delicious food and drinks inspired by Oahu. Grab one of Noe’s private wine-label glasses on your way out so you can remember the wonderful evening you had no matter where you are.
Day 5 – Waterfalls & A Spa
Head over to the windward side for a morning guided hiking tour and then spend the rest of the day at The Four Season Resort Oahu at Ko’Olina. Mina’s Fish House is on the property so you don’t have to walk far after a relaxing day at the spa.
Activity 1 – Three Waterfall Guided Tour
This tour is perfect for you if you want to see amazing tropical scenery and waterfalls. Nandor will take care of all the logistics; you must be open to a new experience. Amazing pictures are included in the price of the tour.
Difficulty: Intermediate/Advanced, Elevation Gain: 1500 ft, distance: 4-5 miles, duration: 4-5 hours
Activity 2 – Naupaka Spa at Four Seasons
The Four Seasons is unsurprisingly one of the most renowned spas on the island, and for a good reason. They offer only high-end service with minute attention to detail – something that extends perfectly into their spa facilities. The spa and wellness center occupies four floors, each more indulgent than the last. Some notable features include a world-class tennis court on the top floor, a eucalyptus steam room, and unique treatments like those conducted inside a Himalayan salt chamber or near ocean waves.
Restaurant Recommendation – Mina’s Fish House
Chef Michael Mina’s line-to-table dining experience promises a unique take on the traditional Hawaiian fish restaurant. Situated right on the beach, guests can enjoy meals made with fresh local ingredients and pair them with cocktails or local brews as they admire stunning ocean views.
Day 6 – UTVs, A Secret Beach, and Chocolate
Activity 1 – Kualoa Ranch UTV Raptor Tour
You can also do another horseback ride here, or a group tour if you want, either way, this is the premier activity experience on Oahu.
Oahu is known for its horseback riding; this is the best place to go if you want to experience it. You can do a group tour or ride alone, but you’re guaranteed a fantastic time either way.
Kualoa Private Nature Reserve, or “Jurassic Valley” as it’s nicknamed, is a gorgeous 4000-acre playground that provides various ways to tour and explore one of the most stunning valleys on Oahu. Kualoa’s multi-passenger Raptor vehicles are an excellent way to get up close and personal with the reserve! Throughout this guided ATV Tour, you will drive your Raptor vehicle!
Activity 2 – Secret Island Beach at Kualoa Ranch
Suppose you want to avoid crowds and have a full or half-day trip to Oahu, head over to Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island Beach. You’ll get there via Polynesian boat, where you can see Mokoli’i Island and Kaneohe Bay in all their glory. And if that isn’t enough, the turquoise waters are just asking for you to take a dip. Oh, and feel free to use kayaks, canoes, snorkeling gear–anything! The point is to relax on the sand (or try stand-up paddle boarding), all while taking in Hawaii’s landscape.
Activity 3 – Cacao Farm Tour & Chocolate Tasting
This educational tour covers everything you need to know about making chocolate, from growing cacao trees and harvesting beans to post-harvest processing and tasting the finished product. You’ll enjoy strolling through the farm and sampling tropical fruits in the season if you love fruit and flowers.
Restaurant Recommendation – Michel’s at Colony Surf
Hawaii’s oceanfront restaurant is the perfect place to come and experience fine-dining French cuisine. This award-winning eatery has been voted “Most Romantic Restaurant” by “The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.”
Day 7 – Surf the North Shore, Waimea Bay, and a Spa Day
The last of 7 days so you might as well go big! Surf the north shore of Oahu where some of the biggest surfing competitions take place. Don’t worry, this activity is perfect for kids and beginners, even on the north shore. Finish in style with a final spa day on the north shore and you have the 3 corners covered.

The bay offers a gorgeous white sand beach and beautiful blue-green water that is perfect for swimming during the summer months. However, Waimea Bay comes alive during winter when it becomes one of the world’s most famous surf spots. If you follow the lifeguards’ instructions, you will have a safe and thrilling time paddling out into this iconic surfing area.
Nearby is Waimea Valley with an amazing selection of native plants, a short easy to walk pathway, and other cultural activities.
Activity 3 – Nalu Spa at Turtle Bay Resort
All treatments draw inspiration from Aloha’ Aina, which means love and respect for the land. They use only pure, sustainable, and natural ingredients to reflect Hawaii’s natural beauty. The North Shore location allows guests to experience the power and peace of the ocean. The movement of the water will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated.
Restaurant Recommendation – Beach House By Roy Yamaguchi
Their food is truly unique. It represents the wide gamut of cultures in Hawaii. Roy has combined bold Asian flavors, classic European techniques, and the freshest local ingredients to create what is called, “Hawaii Inspired Euro-Asian Cuisine”.
