Matild Palace Steeped in history

The Matild Palace in Budapest has a long and distinguished history, going back over 120 years to the Belle Époque era. Matild Palace is part of the vision to construct two palaces on the “Pest” side of Budapest. These buildings act as a gateway for those entering from Elisabeth Bridge.

Wolfgang Puck Influence

Wolfgang Puck has been named culinary director for all dining operations at Matild Palace bringing a new era of gastronomy. Spago by Wolfgang Puck, which is revered in Beverly Hills for its fine dining empire, has now made its first foray into Hungary. The menu will feature traditional Hungarian cuisine with a modern twist.

The iconic chef will also oversee culinary offerings at the hotel’s rooftop bar, as well as Matild Café and Cabaret, opening in September.

Matild Palace Rooms and Suites

The 111 guestrooms and 19 suites in Matild Palace offer an exceptional view of Budapest and the Danube River.

This hotel features four guestroom categories, each taking inspiration from the Duchess’s exuberant lifestyle and early 20thcentury Budapest.

With a height of over four meters, the bedrooms in Matild Palace celebrate Hungarism with delicately handcrafted headboards, traditional fishbone parquet floors and lavish spa-style bathrooms inspired by Hungary’s iconic thermal baths. The design of the Matild Palace reflects Budapest’s iconic roofscape with a creative color palette. The hotel offers many connecting rooms for families staying in Budapest.

Guests have the option of staying in a unique loft experience overlooking Budapest from high up on top of Matild Palace. The eclectic mix of old and new design captures the eye of creatives, a nod to The Duchess’ artisan friends.

The Crown Tower Suite is the first suite in Hungary to come with a 48-meter-high dedicated tower that offers 360° views of Budapest. The Maria Klotid Royal Suite, designed as a modern interpretation of the Duchess’s private suite, features a spacious bedroom, bathroom with soaking tub and shower, living room and separate study.

Meetings and Events

The design of the hotel’s grand architecture provides a perfect backdrop for meetings and events. With dedicated planners, Wolfgang Puck in the kitchen, and state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment at your fingertips, you can enjoy an unforgettable stay.
