The Wyndham Hotel Group is the largest hotel chain by the number of hotels. It has about 9,000 properties across 22 brands in over 95 countries. This guide to Wyndham Rewards will help you navigate the wide array of options.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts may not have the geographic footprint of some of the other big chains, but properties under the hotel group’s umbrella can be found in the Americas (North, Central and South), Asia, Australia and the Pacific Rim, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and Mexico.

While the Wyndham name is associated with upscale properties, many of the hotel group’s holdings are midscale chains like the well-known Ramada and La Quinta brands, as well as AmericInn, Baymont, Wingate and Wyndham Garden, and value-oriented Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Super 8, Microtel and Travelodge hotel brands.

Hawthorn Suites in the Wyndham portfolio are for extended stays, and on the upper end of the scale are Dolce, Registry Collection Hotels, Wyndham, Wyndham Grand and Wyndham Alltra all-inclusive properties. Four lifestyle brands round out the Wyndham offerings including Dazzler, Esplendor, Tryp and the Trademark Collection by Wyndham.

Rewards Club Benefits and Elite Tiers

If you’ve got a stay at a Wyndham Hotel Group property planned, be sure to enroll in the hotel chain’s frequent stay program to get member benefits. The Wyndham Rewards program is designed to create loyalty among guests, but even if you are loyal to another chain or don’t stay at Wyndham properties that often, it’s worth enrolling.

You will be an automatic Blue member just by joining the program. Five qualifying nights will unlock Gold status, it will take 15 nights to reach Platinum, and you can become a Diamond elite after 40 nights. If you earn more nights than you need for status, they will roll over to the next year.

Meeting and event planners can receive one point per dollar spent on event space, room blocks, and food and beverage charges.

Gold Elite Status

Gold elites get a 10% point bonus when booking properties under the Wyndham umbrella, Platinum members receive a 15% bonus, and Diamonds get a 20% bonus on points earned.

Other perks include a dedicated member services representative assigned by level, free Wi-Fi and preferred room choice for all members. Gold elites and above can get late check-out, and Platinum and Diamonds get early check-in where available.

Platinum and Diamond Elite Status

Platinum and Diamond members also get a Caesars Rewards status match and car rental upgrades at Avis and Budget. Diamonds also qualify for suite upgrades, they get a welcome amenity on arrival, and they can gift one Gold membership to a friend or family member for the year.

Credit Cards with Bonus Points and Status

The hotel group has three co-branded credit cards including two cards for consumers and one business credit card, all issued by Barclays. They come with welcome bonus points that are good for up to six nights, automatic elite status, bonus points earning opportunities and other benefits.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Card

The Wyndham Rewards Earner card has no annual fee, comes with automatic Gold status and offers 30,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days. That’s enough for up to four free nights.

You get automatic Gold status with this card, and you earn 5x points per dollar spent on gas purchases and at Wyndham properties in addition to points earned for elite status. You’ll get 2x points on dining and grocery purchases excluding Walmart and Target, and one point on everything else.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus card costs $75 a year to hold, it comes with automatic Platinum status and offers 45,000 points when you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days. That’s enough for six free nights.

You’ll earn 6x points on Wyndham stays and gas purchases, 4x on dining and grocery purchases, and one point on all other purchases.

Both personal cards offer 15 months of 0% interest on balance transfers in the first 45 days. They both also come with 7,500 bonus points on the cardholder anniversary, but you need to spend $15,000 to earn those points on the no-fee card. There are no minimum spend requirements to get the annual bonus on the Plus card. You earn them automatically after paying the annual fee.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card costs $95 a year, and comes with automatic Diamond status and 45,000 points after you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days, enough for six free nights.

With the business card version, you earn 8x points on hotel stays at Wyndham properties, 5x on marketing, advertising and utilities, and one point on everything else. This card offers 15,000 bonus points on your anniversary.

All three cards offer fraud liability protection, no foreign transaction fees and a 10% redemption discount when you trade in your points for award nights.

Other Partners You Can Earn Points or Miles With

You can also earn points with purchases through other Wyndham partners like Home Chef meal kits or through the hotel chain’s shopping portal, which includes bonus earning opportunities up to bonus points on every dollar spent with merchants and services like Macy’s, Home Depot, Staples, Kohl’s, GrubHub and Groupon.

Wyndham Rewards members also get discounts of up to 35% on Avis car bookings and they can earn 1,000 points on rentals of three or more days. Members can also book tours and activities through the site or take surveys to earn points.

Airline Partners

You can also earn miles in frequent flyer programs instead of earning Wyndham Rewards points, including American Airlines AAdvantage, Air Canada’s Aeroplan, Air China Avianca LifeMiles, Frontier Miles, Lufthansa’s Miles and More, Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles, United MileagePlus programs, or earn Payback points or kilometers in the Fortune Wings Club. Be sure to change your earning preference before booking.

Under this earning scheme, Blue and Gold members earn one airline mile for every dollar spent at Wyndham properties, and Platinum and Diamond members earn two miles per dollar spent on Wyndham stays. Air China and its PhoenixMiles partners offer the opportunity to earn miles in those programs by booking select Wyndham hotel brands.

How to Redeem Your Points

Free nights start at 7,500 points with Wyndham Rewards Go Free award nights, and you can get discounted rates starting at 1,500 points with its Go Fast award stays. There is no formal category chart, but you can search by location, hotel brand and amenities you are seeking such as free breakfast, airport shuttle, fitness center, pool, etc.

Redemption Level123
Points for Go Free Award Room Nights7,50015,00030,000
Points for Go Fast Room Discounts1,500 + cash3,000 + cash6,000 + cash

There are only three categories of redemptions for free or discounted nights using points, and you can filter your points redemption options with the same Wyndham search engine. Free award nights at the second level cost 15,000 points and points plus cash bookings are 3,000 points. The third and top category of redemptions for room nights cost 30,000 points for a free room or 6,000 points if you are using a points/cash combination. You will also earn points on the cash portion of your hotel bill when using this option.

About 6,000 of Wyndham Hotel Group properties are in the middle category for reward point redemptions. Just over 2,000 are in the lowest award price category. And only about 300 properties cost 30,000 points at the top level.

You can also transfer your Wyndham points to miles with airline partners including United and American Airlines starting at 6,000 points. Or you can redeem points for online shopping, gas discounts, tours and activities, gift cards and more.
